FAQ

  • What is the Outside the Lines Mentorship Program?

Outside the Lines is a mentorship program designed to support both baseball players and their parents. We focus on the parts of baseball that happen outside the lines of the field — confidence, mindset, preparation, adversity, routines, player development, and long-term planning.
Players get personalized guidance from former professional baseball player Jacob McCaskey, and parents receive support from Jim McCaskey, who has lived the entire journey as a baseball parent.

-Help with communication, confidence, and growth

-More than just lessons — long-term development

-A positive, consistent voice outside of their team or facility

It benefits athletes of all ages and skill levels.

  • How does communication work?

Families can reach out via text, email, or video message.
We respond within a reasonable window, typically within the same day.
Coaching calls or Zoom sessions can be scheduled as needed.

  • Do you offer in-person lessons?

Yes — Jacob offers private lessons separately, and those lessons can be used to reinforce the mentorship plan.
Many athletes benefit from combining both for faster progress.

  • How is this different from regular baseball lessons?

This program is not just mechanical coaching — it’s full-circle mentorship that covers:

    -Mindset

    -Confidence

    -Handling failure

    -Routine building

    -Adversity

    -Game IQ

    -Parent support
